The Akwa Ibom State Government has paid about One billion naira to retired primary school teachers and gratuities to their next of kins in the state.
The state commissioner for information and strategy, Ini Ememobong made this known to newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital after the state executive council meeting.

It was good news for retired primary school teachers and next of kins of late teachers in the state as the state government intervened in their outstanding pensions and gratuities.
According to the state commissioner for information and strategy, Ini Ememobong, the state government was alarmed at the recent upsurge in the COVID-19 cases , adding that it called for action.
He pointed out that the Skills Acquisition center was near completion.
The commissioner also stated that the medium term expenditure frame work and fiscal strategy paper as developed by the ministry of economic development has been approved.
