Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has pledged the state government’s support to fast-track the completion of the NIPP Lot 18 transmission project along the Ikot Ekpene–Ikot Abasi axis.
Governor Eno gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, at Government House, Uyo.
A delegation from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, led by its Managing Director, Engineer Jennifer Adighije, was at Government House, Uyo, for a strategic engagement with Governor Umo Eno on challenges affecting the NIPP Lot 18 project.
The Governor said the state would intervene to facilitate the completion of the 330-kilovolt transmission line and improve electricity supply across Akwa Ibom.
NDPHC said the project, which commenced about 20 years ago, had been stalled by outstanding wayleave compensation and community-related challenges.
The NDPHC Managing Director congratulated Governor Eno on the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission, AKSERC, and pledged the company’s collaboration in developing an effective electricity market in the state.
