Akwa-Ibom Gov. Eno promises improved power supply in 18 months

Governor Umo Eno has assured Akwa Ibom people of significant improvements in electricity supply within the next 18 months.

The Governor gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Board of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission, AKSERC, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

Governor Eno disclosed plans to enter into a Public-Private Partnership arrangement for the management of the state-owned Ibom Power Company, a move expected to boost efficiency and attract investment into the power sector.

Chairman of the Commission, Arit Okon-Uya, pledged to build a regulatory institution anchored on transparency, accountability, and global best practices to drive sustainable growth in the electricity sector.

Other members of the Commission inaugurated alongside the Chairman are Kalu Ukoha, Ubong Etukudoh, Valerie Obot, and Paul Okon.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in Akwa Ibom’s quest to achieve energy security and stimulate economic growth through improved electricity supply.
