The Arise Queens Cup competition for female football teams in Akwa Ibom State has kicked off.
In the opening match, Patience Umo Eno Amazons of Mkpat Enin defeated Ibiono Ibom Queens two nil at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Chairman of the State FA, Samuel Umoh, emphasized the need to give greater attention to the development of female football.
Female football enthusiasts also speak on the need to encourage female football.
In the opening match, Patience Umo Eno Amazons of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area defeated Ibiono Ibom Queens of Ibiono Ibom LGA two nil, scoring a goal in each half.
The competition, which runs from April 23 to May 17, features eight teams.
