Akwa Ibom state results are trickling in from the local government council elections held on Saturday, October 5.
Results so far released by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, show that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has won nine of the 10 local government areas declared so far while the All Progressives Congress, APC, won in one LGA.
Interestingly, the LGA won by APC is Essien Udim, the local government area of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

But there is confusion about that particular result because there’s a video circulating online where the Returning Officer for Essien Udom LGA , Professor Inyang Atim declared the PDP candidate as the winner with an overwhelming 55,612 votes against 686 votes for the APC candidate.
More results and the official position by AKISIEC is expected in the coming hours.
