Akwa Ibom State

In Akwa Ibom State, South South region of Nigeria, residents of Uyo, the State capital went about their normal activities with no sign of protest on Thursday, the day of the scheduled #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest in Nigeria.

ait.live Correspondent reports however that some residents who spoke on the planned civil action gave divergent views on the protest.

On the D-Day for protest, Uyo city had no sign of protesters on the streets, even as the early morning rain, served as a dampener.

In major streets of the metropolis, people went about their daily activities peacefully, but some Banks shut their doors to customers

Some residents of Uyo, the State capital think the protest is unnecessary, while some are in support of the action.

Some pro-protest agitators believe that President Bola Tinubu is being served a dose of his own medicine, after his years of activism in the past against other administrations.

Akwa Ibom is known to be one of Nigeria’s most peaceful States, with records showing that during the 2020 #EndSARS protest, the State was relatively peaceful, although there were very few flashes of violence.
