The Police in Cross River State say an investigation is underway into the alleged brutality of youths in Nde village of Ikom Local Government Area of the State by men of the Nigerian Army.
The army officials are accused of assaulting the youths for protesting against cattle grazing on their farmland, prompting residents and monarchs to cry out to the military and state government for immediate action.

Speaking with ait.live on the issue, the police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the state commissioner of police, Aminu Alhassan has invited both the leadership of Hausa/Fulani community from Ikom and the Nde communities to resolve the issue.
Ugbo equally said investigation of the alleged brutality has started.
Residents of the area who also spoke with ait.live on the issue, want goverment to take immediate action to avoid clashes between herdsmen and Nde Community.
No fewer than 10 youths of Nde Community in Ikom Local Government Area, Cross River are currently urdergoing treatment in undisclosed hospitasl in Ikom and its environs as a result of injuries sustained from the alleged soldiers attack following their demand to herdsmen to leave their community after destruction of their farmland by the herders animals
