The Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to strike out the nine-count charge brought against the former governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano.
Justice Inyang Ekwo In his ruling held that security vote is paid from the Federation account, and the court can not stop the EFCC from prosecuting the case concerning how it was spent.
Obiano had challenged the powers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to prosecute him, urging the court to strike out the charges. describing them as an abuse of court process.
Obiano was arraigned on January 24 on a nine-count charge of theft to the tune of four billion naira.
