Fifty-five-year-old American rapper and music executive Shawn Corey Carter known professionally as Jay-Z has been accused alongside Sean Diddy Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl following an after party of the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
On Sunday, December 8th 2024, a Southern District New York City Federal lawsuit which had initially named Diddy Combs in the alleged rape case added Jay’s name.
The lawsuit had claimed that the accuser identified as “Jane Doe” was dropped off at the VMAs Radio City Music Hall by a friend because she did not have a ticket to the after-party and had approached various limousine drivers to try gain access to the show.
One of the drivers who was said to have worked for Combs had allegedly told her she fits what Diddy was looking for and he picked her then, dropped her off at a white house with a u-shaped driveway; where she was asked to sign a document she believed to be a non-disclosure agreement.
She was allegedly offered a drink that made her feel drowsy and lightheaded causing her to lie down after which the rappers, Diddy and Jay-Z entered the room asking her: “You are ready to party?”.
The East Coast rapper Jay Z who has since denied the rape allegation in a penned message said:
‘My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people’.
