Former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi says he is in support of Odion Ighalo making a return to the Super Eagles. Ighalo has been receiving lots of encouragement lately to make a return to the Eagles after retiring from international football immediately the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON ended.
His impressive performance for Manchester United in his loan spell has also laid credence to these calls for his return to the Eagles.
Amokachi argued that Ighalo’s quality and experience are still needed in the team. The “Bull” as he is fondly called says Nigerians made Ighalo to resign because of the kind of abuse he got while playing for Nigeria.
He revealed that Ighalo wasn’t really pained about the abuse directed at him but took offence when his family was involved. This Amokachi said made him come to the decision to resign because he believes his family doesn’t deserve such abuse. Ighalo felt he should not sacrifice his life for a country that doesn’t show him love.
The former National team coach said quality-wise Nigeria still needs Ighalo on the field 120 percent, and by the special grace of God he will still wear the number 9 jersey for Nigeria.
