Operatives of Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria have arrested the suspected leader of a seven-man gang who were alleged to be planning a robbery attack on three commercial banks in Irele Local Government Area of the State.
Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye gave the revelation on Thursday while parading thirty six other suspects for various crimes, who were arrested in different locations across Ondo State.
The Amotekun Corps Commander claimed that the Mastermind of an intended bank robbery, including plans to kidnap a business man in irele Local Government Area was among those arrested, but did not disclose the identity of the prime suspect for security reasons.
Adeleye also disclosed the arrest of some individuals suspected to be specialists in vandalising critical government facilities and infrastructure.
The Amotekun Commander told Newsmen that the attention of the Corps has moved to nipping crime in the bud as against arrests after crime has been committed by criminals.
