The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it has uncovered over 62,698 multiple voter registration for the Anambra governorship elections as the number of those expected to participate are now over 2.5million.
Disclosing this at an emergency meeting with political parties in Abuja, ahead of the Anambra governorship election, the chairman of the commission, Yakubu Mahmood explained that their old Permanent voters cards remain valid and can be used to vote at the polling units.

Yakubu urged the political parties to refrain from using unguarded comments that may anger the people whether before or after the election.
The political parties say despite the challenges INEC is facing particularly the position of the National assembly, the political bodies express readiness to support the commission to transmit the electoral results electronically as it embrace more technologies.
The commission says it has completed 10 out of 14 activities for the Anambra election including the completion of renovating the office in Awka which was under attack early this year.
INEC says the number of eligible voters in Anambra State at the end of the First Quarter of the Continuos Voters Registration exercise is 77,475 as the figure has been added to the existing register of 2,447,996 used for the 2019 General Election.
