The Police in Anambra State, South East Nigeria, have arrested one Onye Army suspected to be a member of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over allegations of his involvement in terror activities in Anambra state and its environs.
The Anti-kidnapping Squad of the Anambra Police Command which effected the arrest during a search operation conducted in Onye Army’s house and premises earlier on Friday, explained that 4 AK-47 Rifles and several live ammunition were recovered from him.
Reports made available to AIT indicate that six motor cycles and one hilux bus was recovered from gunmen suspected to be members of the ESN believed to be the mastermind of the attack on a military checkpoint at UMUNZE in which a soldier was killed earlier this Friday.
The report also showed that the group had later attacked the convoy of the Anambra state Police Commissioner killing his Protocol officer, Inspector Franklyn Chinenye Obiwuru and another Inspector simply identified as Daniel.

The suspects also attacked operatives of the DSS at Ekwulobia roundabout killing three of the personnel and leaving many others seriously wounded.
The arrested Onye Army, a native of Nnewi and a suspected member of the ESN/IPOB, is among known gunmen terrorising Anambra state and its environs.
