The All Progressives Congress, APC, has conducted its House of Assembly primaries across the eighteen local government areas of Ondo State, with party leaders and observers describing the exercise as peaceful and largely hitch-free.
Several constituencies adopted consensus candidates, while voting took place in areas where contests were held.
AIT’s Olusola Adesuyan, who monitored the exercise in parts of the state, reports that party members commended the orderly conduct of the primaries.
The APC primaries commenced early in many locations, with party officials, delegates and aspirants arriving at designated venues amid security deployment.
In several constituencies visited, party stakeholders embraced consensus arrangements that produced candidates without major disputes.
Party leaders and delegates who spoke during the exercise described the process as organised, transparent and free from violence.
Observers say the outcome of the primaries may shape the APC’s internal cohesion ahead of the next electoral cycle in Ondo State.
