The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Dachung Musa Bagos winner of its rerun primary election for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency of Plateau State, affirming him as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
In the re-run conducted across 11 wards in Jos East and Jos South Local Government Areas, Bagos polled 5,523 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Esther Beatrice Damboyi, who scored 1,332 votes.
Chairman of the Re-run Electoral Committee, Karu Simon Elisha, announced the results on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following the collation of votes from the affected wards.
Other aspirants recorded the following results: Abok Ayuba and Ajiji Arum, one vote each; Ajang Alfred, one vote; while Florence D. Young and Rebecca Hadar Sambu scored no votes.
Following the merger of the rerun results with those of the earlier primary election, Bagos emerged with a cumulative total of 12,181 votes. Damboyi polled 2,495 votes, Abok Ayuba scored 1,121, Ajiji Arum had 169, Ajang Alfred recorded 95, while Rebecca Hadar Sambu and Florence D. Young scored 56 and zero votes, respectively.

Declaring the outcome, Elisha said the committee, acting under the authority of the APC National Chairman, recognised Bagos as the party’s candidate for the constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Reacting to his victory, Bagos described the rerun as a demonstration of democracy, saying the exercise had reaffirmed the people’s mandate through what he considered a free and fair process.
He also identified insecurity as a major legislative priority, reiterating his support for the establishment of state police to strengthen community-based security.
Bagos expressed hope that, if elected, he would devote greater attention to infrastructure and human capital development, rather than continuing to draw attention to recurring killings and insecurity in his constituency.
The re-run followed a High Court order directing the APC to repeat its primary election in 11 wards of the constituency. The party had said the exercise was aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and compliance with electoral guidelines.

With the declaration, the committee has concluded the collation of the rerun and earlier primary election results, setting the stage for the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
