The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe State has inaugurated a 25-member committee to reconcile aggrieved members. This follows its recent congresses, primary elections and local government polls.

The party says the initiative is aimed at restoring unity ahead of the 2027 general elections in a chance to mend fences and rebuild party cohesion after a series of keenly contested internal elections.

The reconciliation process is expected to address grievances arising from the party’s congresses, governorship and legislative primaries, as well as the recently concluded local government elections.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who inaugurated the committee at the Government House in Gombe, said while the party’s internal electoral processes were largely successful, some members were understandably dissatisfied with the outcomes.

He urged aggrieved party faithful to embrace dialogue and forgiveness, stressing that unity remains the APC’s greatest strength as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.

“We need to sheath our swords and embrace dialogue so that we can put our house in order as the 2027 general elections draw closer. Our strength lies in our unity, and together we must build a stronger and more formidable APC.”

Governor Yahaya charged the committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau, to carry out its assignment with fairness, sincerity and confidentiality. He also empowered the committee to engage stakeholders across the state’s three senatorial districts where necessary to fast-track the reconciliation process.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Dr. Jatau assured party members that every grievance would receive fair consideration as the committee works to strengthen the APC ahead of the next general elections.

Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Mohammed Ndus, described the committee as credible and urged its members to justify the confidence reposed in them by restoring unity within the party.
