The All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented former Borno Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima to President Muhammadu Buhari as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
The former Lagos Governor presented Shettima to President Buhari in his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists, Tinubu expressed confidence in the capability of Shettima as the APC vice presidential candidate.
Asked if the decision to pick Shettima as his running mate will not affect the party’s chances during the 2023 election, the APC standard bearer says the party has nothing to fear and victory is assured.
Meanwhile, the vice presidential place holder, Ibrahim Masari has stepped down from the race.
Masari in a statement said the the decision was the outcome of a crucial discussion he had with the flagbearer of the party, Bola Tinubu.

Interim National Coordinator of the Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation and House of Representatives member, James Faleke has also confirmed the withdrawal of Masari as running mate to Bola Tinubu.
Faleke said Masari communicated his decision from Saudi Arabia where he is presently performing the Hajj.
While saluting Masari’s sacrifice, he believes the move will give Tinubu an opportunity to take a decision that will further enhance the chances of APC in the Presidential election.
Tinubu had submitted the name of Ibrahim Masari as placeholder for the vice presidential slot pending the choice of a substantive running mate.
Political parties have up to Saturday to substitute name of candidates if the need arises.
