Young officers of the Nigerian army have been charged to improve their proficiency in basic military skills and be mentally prepared to tackle evolving security threats in the country.
The charge was given by the general officer commanding the 3 division Nigerian army to candidates during the opening of the Nigerian Army young officers’ conversion exercise in Jos.
Gathered in the hall were over five hundred officers of the Short Service Commission and the direct Short Service Commission of the Nigerian army, hoping for a transition to regular commissioned officers.

To achieve this they will have to undergo a conversion exercise which involves several physical, mental and fitness tests.
The general officer commanding 3 Division, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, reminded the young officers of their role in the future of the Nigerian army stressing the importance for them to approach the exercise with diligence to Excel.
He also warned against any form of malpractice during the exercise as it would be met with severe penalties.
The conversion Exercise which is expected to last for two weeks will require participants to bring to bear their knowledge and skills to Excel.
