Headquarters of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North-West Operation Fansa Yamma, has refuted reports circulating on various media platforms that a group of Islamic scholars were abducted at the residence of the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and former Governor, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State.
The Army described the report as false, clarifying that no cleric was abducted at Senator Yari’s residence.
It, however, confirmed that some persons were abducted while travelling from the Sububu Forest axis in Bakura Local Government Area to Talata Mafara.
In a statement, the Media and Information Officer of Joint Task Force Operation Fansa Yamma, Lieutenant Olaniyi Osoba, said troops, in collaboration with sister security agencies and local intelligence networks, have intensified efforts to rescue the victims.
The Army urged members of the public to disregard sensationalised narratives and unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic or compromising ongoing tactical operations.
It also called for calm and vigilance, urging residents to provide timely and actionable information that could assist security agencies in securing the safe release of the abducted persons.
