Sports should be used as a medium for national cohesion and peace building. The National Sports Commission’s North Central Coordinator made this assertion as the unity torch for the Asaba 2022 sports festival arrived in Jos, the Plateau capital.
The Unity torch for the 2022 National sports festival arrived in Jos on the final lap of the north central tour, which began in the federal capital territory and is touring the 36 states of the federation in preparation for the sports festival in Asaba, Delta State. The north central coordinator of the national sports commission , while presenting the torch to the Plateau state government, charged governments at all levels to see sports as a tool for uniting the country and called for better welfare for athletes.

Receiving the torch on behalf of the Plateau state government, the state commissioner of sports commended the initiative behind the sports festival.
The unity torch will continue its nationwide tour with the north-eastern zone being the next stop.
