The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has declared an indefinite strike across the three Lagos State-owned universities over non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement by the state government.
The decision was taken Tuesday after the congress of the three state-owned universities, Lagos State University Ojo LASU, Lagos State University of Education Oto iIjanikin LASUED, and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology Ikorodu LASUSTECH.
The declaration followed the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Lagos State Government in August 2026 demanding the domestication and implementation of the December 2025 ASUU-FG agreement in the state-owned institutions.
A statement signed by the three coordinators of the affected universities said their grievances include non-implementation of the 2025 ASUU-FG agreement in all state owned universities including the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowances, CATA, critical welfare provision for serving and retired academic staff.

The union noted that the action was not targeted at the management of the three universities but aimed at compelling the state government to address the outstanding issues.
Lagos State is among the 20 states identified by ASUU’s national body as yet to implement the 2026 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.
