The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in the University of Jos, has appealed to the Federal and State Governments to fully implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU agreement, without further delay, in the interest of the country.
Chairman of the University of Jos chapter of ASUU, Professor Jurbe Molwus, appealed during a Press conference at the University of Jos campus.
The University teachers expressed concern that despite reaching an agreement in January 2026, the Federal Government is yet to inaugurate the implementation monitoring committee, a development the union said raises doubts about government’s commitment to the letters of the agreement.
The union also used the occasion to assess the state of the nation, describing insecurity and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections as major concerns requiring urgent attention.
ASUU further criticised the Minister of Education’s pronouncement on the reversal of the mother tongue policy, describing the move as retrogressive and not in the best interest of the nation’s education system.
