The Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU on Friday staged a peaceful protest over pro-rata and unpaid salaries.
ASUU says the protest is against the maltreatment of lecturers through the “no work no pay” policy and intimidating court orders that forced the lecturers back to classes.
ASUU insists that If the Federal Government remains adamant to their plight, the National Executive Council of the Union will go back to the drawing board, assess all the issues and take the necessary action.
Leading the protest at the mini-campus of the University of Abuja, the ASUU Branch Chairman, Kassim Umaru, called on well meaning Nigerians to task the Federal Government to honour the Union’s demand.
ASUU is also calling on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to honour agreements reached with the Union.
ASUU insists it will not give up until the Federal Government does the needful by paying withheld salaries and also honouring the agreement signed in 2020.
