Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has been declared winner of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primary election, polling 1, 848,370 votes to defeat his closest rival, one-time Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who polled 504, 117,000 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Atiku Abubakar called on the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to desist from using the state institutions to witch-hunt leaders of opposition parties.

The newly nominated ADC presidential candidate believes that there is no winner and no loser in the just concluded primary election and urged his co-contestants to join hands with him to lead the party in winning the 2027 elections.
At the declaration of the presidential primary election results, the two aspirants, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen were conspicuously absent.
