Elders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State have dismissed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s proposal to reintroduce fuel subsidy, describing it as an unnecessary political gimmick.

Addressing journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Convener of the PBAT Elders Forum, Demola Ijabiyi, urged Nigerians to view the proposal as an attempt by the former Vice-President to win public favour without considering the long-term economic implications for the country.

Ijabiyi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidy, describing the decision as a bold and necessary step towards economic growth and development.

On the political situation in Ondo State, Ijabiyi called for genuine reconciliation among members of the APC across the state.

He urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take the lead in the reconciliation process, stressing that any meaningful peace effort must actively involve key stakeholders within the party.
