Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan, says the successful conduct of the mock voter accreditation exercise in Osun State, South-West Nigeria has strengthened the Commission’s readiness to deliver a credible, free and fair governorship election in the state come 15th August 2026.
He gave the assurance during a media briefing after inspection of the exercise in selected polling units across the state noting that an initial challenge encountered during the exercise, involving the rejection of old Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs was resolved Immediately.
The INEC Chairman explained that the exercise is designed to test the functionality and efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.

Professor Amupitan along with the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola inspected some polling units in Osogbo, Obokun and Egbedore Local Government Areas where the mock voters accreditation exercise was conducted.
The exercise took place simultaneously in some designated polling units in nine selected local government areas across the state.
Turnout for the mock exercise at the various polling units visited was massive as some registered voters expressed confidence in INEC’s ability to deliver on its promise as well as the deployment of BVAS to be used during the voting process.
