Oyo State Ministry of Health has disclosed that the prevalence of HIV has progressively declined in the State over the years with 44,973 persons currently living with HIV.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetumibi made the disclosure at a free medical outreach held in Saki East local Government Area to commemorate the 2023 World AIDS Day.
The Commissioner also disclosed that the state is on course towards achieving the UNAIDs target to reduce HIV infection by 2030
Some traditional rulers in the area lauded the State Government for the initiative while calling for the rehabilitation of health centres in the area.
The Commissioner however said to eliminate HIV infection, the community has a major role to play to achieve a free HIV society.
