Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Thursday resolved to investigate the increasing incidences of aviation fuel contamination.
The house passed the resolution following a motion on the urgent need to probe the violation, which they say is associated with air travel risks and possible non-adherence to standard operating procedures.
The lawmakers are further concerned that several flight accidents in the past, have been attributed to fuel contamination, hence the need to urgently adhere to the industry’s best practices.
They alleged that unregistered portfolio jet fuel marketers are behind the act, and must be brought to book.
The house immediately resolved to constitute an Adhoc Committee to probe the matter and report back within 4 weeks.
There have been several reports of adulterated aviation fuel flooding Lagos, Kano and Abuja.
