Recognising the sacrifices and contributions of those who helped build Nigeria’s aviation industry was the focus during the second edition of the Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame.
The event brought together aviation industry players and other stakeholders in Lagos where they honored pioneer members whose decades of service helped shapen the sector, while challenging the younger generation to build on that legacy.
Representing the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Olubunmi Kuku, described the recognition as more than honours, stressing that aviation is built by the people whose vision, professionalism and sacrifices have sustained the industry.
With the Aviation hall of Fame themed, “The Next Generation of Aviation Leaders: Talent, Technology and Global Competitiveness,” The Managing director of FAAN who represented the Minister of Aviation challenged younger professionals to take advantage of technological advancement to improve the sector.
The Chairman of the day, Akin Olateru, including other dignitaries present, described technology as being central to the future of aviation and aerospace, pointing to emerging areas such as robotics and drones.
The organisers of the Nigerian Aviation Hall of Fame said recognising the industry’s pioneers is important to preserving its history and inspiring future generations while highlighting the role of technology.
