The Nigerian House of representatives is considering a bill to establish Bakassi Development Commission in an effort to permanently resolve the challenges of the Displaced People of the area.
Chairman House Commiittee on Niger Delta Affairs, Essein Ayi made this known in Calabar while speaking with Newsmen on the current state of Bakassi.
Ayi who is the fifth term member of the federal house representing Bakassi, Calabar South and Akpabuyo Federal Constituency, said the bill has passed the first reading in the lower chamber hoping that it will be passed by the two chambers of the National Assembly.
He assured that the challenges facing the displaced people of Bakassi, will be addressed by the Commission if signed by the President.
The Problem of Bakassi began after the ceding of its territory to the republic of Cameroon by the federal Government.
