The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State has promised to beef up security in Bakassi with accelerated welfare packages to enable the over thirteen thousand refugees to get properly integrated into the State.
The Governorship Candidate of the party, Senator Sandy Onor, Stated this shortly after interfacing with the people of Bakassi as part of his ward-to-ward campaign.

Onor said the current increase in cult-related clashes in the local government area which has affected the returnees will be given adequate and immediate attention if elected as Governor of Cross River State.
He called on the traditional rulers, youths, and women to join hands in rescuing the state from the APC back to the PDP, saying only PDP led Government can fulfill promises made to the people.
The PDP candidate faulted the inability of the state to give proper attention to the Bakassi Returnees, despite their predicament.
