The Zamfara State Government has reinstated the suspended Emir of Birnin Yandoto, Aliyu Garba Marafa to the throne with immediate effect.
A statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Balarabe said, the Emir’s reinstatement is based on the recommendations of the Committee constituted to investigate all issues about the conferment of a traditional title to a repentant bandit, Ado Aliero. The committee found no evidence of any ill motive or collaboration between the Emir and the bandit.

The statement added that the findings of the Committee revealed that the traditional title was conferred on the repentant bandit as part of peace-building efforts between the repentant bandit and banditry-affected communities in Tsafe and Gusau Local Government Areas, which included Yandoto town.
It would be recalled that the Emir of Birnin Yandoto, which is one of the newly created emirates in Zamfara State had in July, last year conferred a traditional title on a bandit kingpin, Ado Aliero which generated reactions that forced the State Government to suspend him from office.
The Committee was constituted by Governor Bello Mohammed-led administration in the last 10 months to investigate the matter but nothing has been heard from them until this Sunday when the State Government released a statement saying it has reinstated the suspended Emir.
