Banditry : Armed Gunmen Kidnap one Person in Abuja

FCT- ABUJA

Armed gunmen have kidnapped one person in Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Abduction is coming less than a month after another resident of the same community was kidnapped and a ransom of two million naira was paid to secure his release.

Chairman Pegi Community Development Association (PECDA) Isaac Aderibigbe who shared eyewitness account with journalists said the attack on the community have continued unabated and has left the community in fear.

One of the victims who narrowly escaped said he heard the gunmen communicating in Hausa language threatening to attack in broad day light when most residents of the community had left for their daily activities.

The gunmen made good their threat when they stormed pegi community in army camouflage uniforms shooting sporadically in the air and attacking motorists in their cars.

The victim Laide Muhammad was whisked away with the assailants demanding a ransom of 15 million Naira.

The FCT police public relations officer Marian Yusuf confirmed the attack. The police spokesperson explained that three people were kidnapped but two of the victims managed to escape after the police chased the gunmen

The police also added that efforts to rescue the remaining victim is on as the more deployments have been made to the location.
