Ahead of the 2023 elections, lawyers have been canvassing for reform of the electoral system to prune the number of political parties to a maximum of six as a way of ensuring sanity in the body politics of the country.
Apart from pushing for immunity clause to be removed for state governors, they also want electronic transfer of Election results during election.

Among those that are insisting on these reforms are Judges and senior lawyers in Abuja.
While Lateef Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria wanted political parties to be prune to six, others also clamored for completion of pre-election matters before the election commences.
Fagbemi said to lessen the burden of service of petitions or court processes, winning candidates must be made to produce a certificate that there are no petitions against them.
For justice Ejembi Eko of the Supreme Court, independent candidature is the way to go.
