The Northern Elders Forum, has distanced itself from some media reports which states that it has condemned the actions of some northern governors, who took drastic measure to fight banditry.
The spokesperson of the group, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, who issued a statement in Abuja on Monday, disclosed that, there was no such statement from the group to any news media in Nigeria.

Baba Ahmed who stated that the northern governors need the support of everyone in their fight against the insecurity in the region, further said the governors were led by intelligence to act the way they, did.
He however called on the federal government to assist the villagers who would be affected by the ban on weekly village market tradings.
