At least ten people were killed on Tuesday when bandits attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Findings by our Correspondent revealed that several families were thrown into mourning as the attackers also razed multiple houses during the violent invasion.

The Kwara State Government confirmed the incident in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.

A community leader in the area also corroborated the attack, confirming that about ten residents were killed while many houses were burnt.

According to him, the bandits suspected to be hiding in the forest of the National Park in Borgu, Niger State stormed Woro community in large numbers at about 6:00pm.

Meanwhile, the statement by the CPS noted that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq mourned the victims of the Kaiama attack, assuring residents that security agencies were intensifying counterterrorism operations across the state.

The governor added that the attack appeared to be a desperate attempt to distract security forces who have recently recorded significant successes against terrorist and kidnapping gangs in several parts of Kwara State.
