Abdulhafiz Umar Barau, popularly known as Dan Isan Gusau/Magayakin Tsafe, has formally declared his intention to contest the Zamfara Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Barau made the declaration shortly after completing his official registration as a member of the party, stating that his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, youths, and political associates across the district.

According to him, his aspiration is driven by a desire to provide focused and accountable representation at the National Assembly.

“I am stepping forward not out of personal ambition, but out of the conviction that Zamfara Central deserves focused, responsive, and accountable representation at the National Assembly,” he said.

He outlined his legislative priorities to include advocacy for improved security, youth empowerment, agricultural revitalisation, educational development, and transparent governance.

Barau also disclosed plans to return to Nigeria soon to commence a comprehensive round of consultations, stakeholder engagements, and grassroots interactions across the senatorial district.

“My commitment is to listen first, build consensus, and present a people-driven legislative agenda that reflects the real needs of our communities,” he added.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC and pledged to work with the party leadership to strengthen internal democracy and unity ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.

The Zamfara Central Senatorial District remains a key constituency in the country’s democratic landscape, and Barau expressed confidence that collective efforts would usher in renewed representation anchored on integrity and service.

Further details of his district-wide engagements and policy framework are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
