Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared Monday, 27th June, as a state-wide public holiday.
This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado in Bauchi.
The statement said the public holiday is to enable the citizens who have attained the age of 18 years, after the 2019 General Elections, lost their Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC, or changed their location, to take advantage of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card.
It further said, the governor equally expressed concern about the low turn-out of eligible voters across the state, for the collection of the PVC, as confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Bala Mohammed, therefore, directed all political appointees, comprising Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Board Chairmen, Directors General, and Executive Secretaries, among others, to mobilize eligible registrants to come out en-mass to register.
