Bauchi state Government in partnership with Global initiatives for food security and Ecosystem preservation (GIFSEP) and Oxfam in Nigeria has held a two-day stakeholders dialogue on climate change policy in Bauchi state.

According to the organisers, the dialogue was focused on formulating a comprehensive climate change policy that will address the pressing risks and challenges facing the state.

Bauchi state is among the States in Nigeria that suffer annually from the devastating flood caused by effects of climate change over time leading to loss of human lives, submerging thousands of farmlands and houses, rendering many displaced.

It’s against this background that Bauchi state Government, through the Ministry of Housing and Environment in partnership with Non governmental organisation seeks to formulate policy that will address the pressing challenges..

The stakeholders agreed on certain policies after engaging on a collective commitment to address a resilient climate

The government drafted a policy that was read after the two days dialogue.

Now that the policy has been formulated, the stakeholders, and Non-governmental organizations are looking forward to seeing concerned authorities push for implementation of the policy aimed at reducing the effects of climate change in Bauchi state.
