Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has blamed the high rate of child abduction on the failure of parents and guardians to monitor the affairs of their children and wards.
Governor Mohammed said this at Government House Bauchi during the official handing over of seven trafficked children, rescued by men of the Kano State Police Command and sent back to Bauchi state.
The children, who were reported missing, following their abduction in Kano State were reunited with their parents
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed, while presenting the children to the state government, explained that upon recieving the report of their abduction, the command launched an investigation leading to the arrest of the suspected masterminds.
Governor Bala Mohammed described the incident as unfortunate and said his administration will not tolerate abduction becoming a trend.
He however warned the parents against abandoning their responsibility of looking after their children and ordered the traditional and religious leaders to embark on sensitisation exercises on the need for parents to exercise proper control over the movement of their children.
