The Bauchi Governorship Election Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) Governorship Candidate, Haliru Jika, against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bala Mohamed and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the results of the March 18 Governorship Election.
In a unanimous ruling, the three-man panel of judges, led by P. T Kwahar, dismissed the petition, because the Electoral Act does not give power, or confer jurisdiction on a panel to release the motion that was earlier dismissed.

The counsel to the petitioner had on the hearing day of the petition, applied for the relist of the petition, which was earlier dismissed by the tribunal, as a result of a mistake on the part of the counsel to the petitioners, for not appearing before the tribunal on the pre-hearing day.
