The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, (BASIEC), has concluded arrangements for the conduct of local government elections, slated to take place on Saturday, August 18.
The chairman of the commission, Ahmed Makama, made this known during a meeting with representatives of political parties that will participate in the forthcoming election, held at the commission’s headquarters in Bauchi State, North East Nigeria.
The announcement, made by the electoral body, has however brought anxiety to the teaming electorate, who are waiting to exercise their franchise, by electing leaders of their choice, across the twenty local government areas of the state.

Addressing journalists after the meeting with the political parties, the Chairman of the state’s Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC, Ahmed Makama, said the move is to keep them abreast with the commission’s activities, designed to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
He enjoined both the political parties and the electorate to conduct themselves in line with the state’s electoral laws, assuring of the commission’s readiness to conduct credible polls.
The last Bauchi Local Government Election was conducted in 2020, where the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, swept all the elective positions across the twenty local governments of the state.
