The Police in Bauchi State, has released a Press statement stating that it’s operatives have arrested a suspected kidnapper who abducted and killed a 12-year old boy, Christopher Bala, son of an Assistant Superintendent of Police serving in the State command.
The State Command Spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakili named the late Christopher’s father as ASP Bala Yarima attached with the Gumau Police Division in Bauchi State.
According to the Police Press release, on March 21st 2024, the State Command received a distress call regarding the abduction of Christopher Bala, and immediately responded, and initiated a Rescue operation to apprehend the perpetrators of the act.
It said the investigation launched by the Police led to the arrest of 20-year old Rabiu Adamu of Magama Gumau, who was identified as the prime suspect.
The suspect reportedly revealed alarming details of extortion and blood relation between him, the victim and the victim’s family.
The statement further said that the suspect, Adamu confessed to the kidnapping and the tragic murder of young Christopher, after he extorted N200,000 ransom from the victim’s father, ASP Yarima, before he murdered Christopher, and buried his body in a shallow grave at Bazale village hill.
According to SP Wakili, the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed has assured relentless pursuit of justice for the deceased, calling on households to be more vigilant over their family members and friends security.
