In an effort to curb the rising cases of divorce and other marital challenges, the Bauchi State Government has announced plans to establish a Pre-Marital Education Institute.
The initiative aims to equip intending couples with the necessary knowledge and guidance required to build stable, successful, and lasting marriages.
It is promoted by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the State Shari’a Commission.
Social psychologists see families as the bedrock of strong societies and communities. But with rampant breakdown of marriages, the foundation of society is gradually being eroded.

This is what Bauchi State hopes to fix through an initiative of the office of the First Lady, Aisha Bala Mohammed, in partnership with the Hisbah Command of the Shari’a Commission.
Islamic scholars have been engaged from various sects and the objective is to enlighten the public on key marital issues and to provide Islamic-based strategies for promoting a healthy and harmonious society.
Bauchi State First Lady, Aisha Mohammed, is hopeful that the programme will help families and marriages resolve their challenges.
The House of Assembly also expressed its backing for the programme, committing to provide speedy legislative backing for the establishment of the Pre-Marital Education Institute.
