The former governor of Bayelsa State and the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC Direct Governorship Primary Election in the state.
The exercise which took place across the 105 wards in the eight local government areas of the state, saw Sylva emerge the winner, after scoring the highest votes with 5,261, to beat his closet rival, Joshua Maciver, who scored 2,078, while David Lyon came third, with 1,548 votes cast.
In an exercise keenly contested by six aspirants, the APC direct primary election was held across the eight LGAs that make up Bayelsa State.
The Returning Officer, Tijani Jubrin, after the process, declared Timipre Sylva the winner.

Other aspirants who accepted the outcome of the exercise, pledged to join efforts in ensuring that the party emerged victorious, in the November 11th Governorship poll in the state.
The APC governorship flag bearer expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election.
The contenders were former Governor Timipre Sylva, 2019 APC governorship candidate, David Lyon, former Southern Ijaw LGA Chairman, Joshua Maciver, Festus Daumiebi, Professor Ongoebi Etebu and Ogomade Isikima.
