Bayelsa Election : Political Parties’ Candidates Sign Peace Accord

The governorship candidates of all political parties in Bayelsa state have signed a peace accord committing themselves to peaceful, credible, and transparent election coming up this Saturday, November 11.

The peace pact was organized by the National Peace Committee this Wednesday in Yenagoa the state capital.

Some of the candidates that signed the accord included the Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Douye Diri, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kalango Akpoebi of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Azebi Ayabeke of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Subiri Joseph of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and ten others.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese and Convener of the National Peace Committee, Bishop Matthew Hassan -Kukah charged all actors to ensure that everyone was allowed to exercise his civic right without harassment and intimidation.

The candidates of the PDP and APC spoke to journalists shortly after signing the peace pact.

Fifteen political parties and their candidates out of the the sixteen registered by INEC took part in the exercise except that of the Labour Party LP, Udeng Eradiri who was absent.
