The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has at this Friday commenced the distribution of sensitive materials for the governorship election in Bayelsa state.
A visit to the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Yenagoa, the state capital, to observe the distribution process saw the bimodal voter accreditation system, BVAS, sealed ballot papers, and result sheets loaded in vehicles for onward movement to various Registration Centres from the INEC office.
Election observers, security officials, and party agents as well as journalists witnessed the distribution.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Bayelsa Chapter, Samuel Numunengi spoke on the safety of journalists assigned to cover the election.
He warned political actors, community leaders, and citizens to ensure media practitioners are protected, as any community found to have maltreated any journalist will be blacklisted.
