Bayelsa Healthcare Delivery: Gov. Okowa Commissions BHIS building, commends Diri on remarkable stride in sector

Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa says Governor Douye Diri’s administration was making huge strides in the health sector, meeting the health needs of the citizenry through the sustenance of the Health Insurance Scheme policy which he wants other state Governors to emulate.

Governor Okowa spoke shortly before commissioning the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme building, in Yenagoa as part of activities to make the third anniversary of Governor Douye Diri’s administration.

Governor Douye Diri’s government will be clocking three years by this month, February 14th.

The Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme edifice was among the projects lined up for commissioning to commemorate the celebration.

Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who commissioned the project said the state under Governor Diri was making huge strides in healthcare delivery to the people.

Although the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme, BHIS, was introduced by the immediate past administration of Seriake Dickson but the Diri’s government was passionate to see it through.

To demonstrate his resolve to ensure the health needs of the people are met the Governor had taken healthcare delivery to the rural areas. He flagged off a medical outreach program at Igeibiri community

The medical outreach program is expected to go around the eight council areas of the state.
