Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has reiterated the calls for security beef up and surveillance at border communities, rivers and rivolets to ensure that Bayelsa State does not become a safe haven to criminal elements, particularly activities of illegal oil bunkering.
At this week security council meeting in government house, Yenagoa, the council noted that its decision on the dusk-to-dawn curfew on the state’s waterways was still effective until further notice.
Governor Diri while commending the efforts of the security heads in sustaining peace, also stated his position against the politicization of security matters.
