A 2-day maiden invitational Open Golf Championship has ended in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, with professionals and amateur golfers from five African countries and Nigeria.
Top golfers at the inaugural tournament and commissioning of the facility commended Governor Seriake Dickson for the recreational facility which they said would attract tourism potentials and boost the state’s economy.

Governor Dickson inaugurated the golf facility located at the new Yenagoa City in company of top golfers who came to participate in the maiden invitational open championship.
The tournament, which saw about 28 professionals and 24 amateur golfers cutting across five African countries and 13 states in Nigeria, took turns to strut their stuff.
Governor Dickson, who also participated, expressed satisfaction noting that the aim was to enhance the socio-economic development of the state.
For the guests, the Bayelsa Golf Course is an asset with capacity to attract tourism potentials and employment opportunities.
The Bayelsa Golf club is an 18 holes facility with 8 lakes, covering over 180,000 square metres with one used as an Aqua Driving Ranger.
